Stick to your New Year’s Resolutions with RockTape

Stick to your New Year’s Resolutions with RockTape

If you’ve ever made New Year’s Resolutions you know that by the end of January they are often long forgotten but RockTape wants to help you change that in 2020 with better movement, improved joint and muscle health and reduced discomfort during your workouts.

Here’s how RockTape  can help you stick to your New Year’s Resolutions:

If you move well, heal faster after being injured and feel less discomfort during your fitness routine or workout, you’ll be more likely to stick with your goals of being more active or becoming better at your favourite sport. Add professional advice from people who know movement best and you’re on your way to success. RockTape can help on all those fronts. Here’s a breakdown:

Move better

RockTape helps you move better by giving your body tactile mechanical feedback which improves kinesthetic awareness and helps with movement correction. This is a very fancy way of saying that sticking something physical onto your skin makes your brain more aware of a certain area which is great for improving how that part of your body moves. Taping specific problem areas can guide better form during movement, helping the brain to normalise those movements and prevent injuries from occurring due to weak or wrong movement.

Reduce discomfort

RockTape is great at relieving pain and reducing discomfort that you might experience both during and after physical activities. When applied correctly, RockTape runs interference on pain thanks to its microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin.

Applying RockTape microscopically lifts the skin away from the underlying fascia, reducing pressure on sensitive pain receptors. Think of it as turning down the pain “volume” that your body hears. RockTape does so by affecting the nerve endings and different types of receptors in the skin of the injured area.

Heal faster

If you’ve ever suffered from a minor injury you know how swelling, bruising and inflammation can affect your performance. RockTape can help your body’s natural healing process to happen faster by allowing greater blood flow to and from an injured area. RockTape creates more room in between layers of fascia, muscle, fat, skin, and other structures which means that congested or compressed blood vessels are under less pressure and can remove the by-products created by inflammation more effectively

Get better posture

Good posture can improve your performance during physical activity by strengthening postural muscles that guide how you move. It also helps to relieve tension in your neck and shoulders and can improve circulation. When everything is aligned, your body can perform optimally.

RockTape can help you improve your posture by giving you tactile feedback because you’ll feel it stretching when you slouch. This kind of feedback can help you to break the habits that cause bad posture.

Expert medical advice

If you have an injury or a concern about your performance, we encourage you to seek advice from a medical professional. And because RockTape is so much more than just tape (we’re a movement company), we’ve partnered with expert medical practitioners who can diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. Click here to find a RockDoc who can help you to address your concerns through personalised recommendations and treatments.

Whether your New Year’s Resolutions are to get in shape, to reach your fitness goals or just to move better, RockTape can help you to go stronger for longer.

Ed's Take: Clinical Studies and Proven Health Benefits of Using Kinesiology Tape

An article posted by Mueller

After the hype it received in the 2008 Olympic games, researchers decided it was time to test the support and healing properties associated with kinesiology tape use. The Journal of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy published the study which consisted of patients who suffered from various orthopedic injuries. One set of test subjects were simply wrapped with the tape, the other patients involved in the study were wrapped with the tape using various proven methods. The study concluded that the patients who were wrapped with the tape using specific methods saw a dramatic improvement in mobility, joint and muscle health, and pain reduction during physical activity.

Ed Le Cara’s Take – A nice short blog regarding benefits of Kinesiology Taping.  At RockTape we believe that pre-cuts do not provide optimal results and thus we encourage our clinicians to cut their own tape.

We provide a framework for taping applications but believe the most important part about taping is pre and post testing the effected area to make sure the desired outcome is seen. Incorrect taping applications do not really exist. Either the tape improves the condition or does not.  A framework approach to taping applications takes the memorization out of learning the techniques. The emphasis is on outcomes.

Our own Paul Coker on Kinesiology Tape Lies

Our very own RockTape UK’s Paul Coker wrote up a great piece over at Breaking Muscle about

My experience of sticking tape on thousands of patients, running hundreds of taping workshops for health professionals, and taping myself whenever I hurt, is that tape works. It does cool and surprising stuff to reduce pain and improve movement. But I also hear a whole load of nonsense, misinformation, and misconceptions about kinesiology tape and what it does.
Here are four most commons myths I hear, along with reasoning to the contrary.

Mobility is a human right

At RockTape, we’ve made a promise to keep people moving stronger and longer. Part of that promise is giving people the tools and knowledge about how to fix themselves.

Which is why we’re incredibly excited – and proud – to introduce our new line of mobility products.

As a company dedicated to optimizing human movement, and keeping people moving througout their life, we believe that the information to get the most out of our tools should be included – and shared.

Every one of our mobility products includes detailed, full-color instructions. Our RockNRoller foam roller includes a gorgeous, lay-flat poster that guides you through fascial-release exercises. It’s truly an all-in-one tool that helps you move better.

The same is true with our RockBalls, a mobility ball set (the spikey one is awesome!) and our RockBands, which are awesome resistance bands (in 5 resistances).

We’ll be following through our commitment to movement with a blog series featuring mobility exerices from some familiar faces. We’ll be sure to announce new posts via Twitter and Facebook, so make sure you’re following us there.

As always, thank you so much for your support!

pHast Legs – the Paleo Supplement is confirmed to be effective

pHast Legs – the Paleo Supplement is confirmed to be effective

A new study at Montana State University confirms pHast Legs efficacy

A blind placebo study was conducted on Nordic skiers by Dr Dan Heil at Montana State University. After 24 elite Nordic skiers used either Alka-Myte or placebo for 7 days at a dose of 1 tablet per 50 pounds of body weight, the following significant changes were noted in their upper body ergometer performance: 1. increased power output; 2. reduced cardio-respiratory stress with lower heart rate, respiratory rate and energy expenditure (lower sub-maximal VO2) and 3. reduced blood lactate levels. The research is available here.

Paleo Punch

Did you know that a Paleo oriented diet can increase blood acidity significantly? Heavy consumption of protein can be highly acidic to your body if it is not balanced by alkaline vegetables and fruits. High acidity, or acidosis, causes pH imbalances in your body which stresses various tissues, compromises immunity and reduces performance.

An easy way to counter high amounts of protein is to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. The problem is it requires you to eat a lot of vegetables!

pHast Legs to the rescue! Simply pop the required dosage of pHast Legs while eating smartly and you’ll soon be dropping pounds while staying strong and healthy. pHast Legs greatly reduces muscle soreness as well.

PowerTaping Manual wins Best of 2010 Award

PowerTaping Manual wins Best of 2010 Award

The award for the best kinesiology taping instruction manual of 2010 was awarded to Rocktape’s PowerTaping: Taping Movements, Not Muscles, 2nd Edition. The award recognizes the manual’s focus and advancement of kinesiology taping and was given by The Kinesiology Tape Information Center, an organization that reports on the developments of the K-tape industry.

With over 70 color photos and illustrations, this manual provides new insights into the field of kinesiology taping for both rehabilitation and sports performance. It provides a comprehensive technical education for anyone utilizing kinesiology taping on a regular basis.

Based on the kinetic chain and “all one fascia” concepts, Power Taping is the new cutting edge of taping for both rehabilitation and athletic performance. The manual covers both the theory and techniques of PowerTaping in 5 key areas:

PowerTaping for Rehabilitation
PowerTaping for Edema Control

PowerTaping for Pregnancy
PowerTaping for Sports Performance

“Written for trainers, coaches and health professionals, Power Taping uses moderately complex anatomical and medical terminology, but the application instructions are simple and accompanied by excellent photographs.”

Rock Sauce Introduced

Rock Sauce Introduced

(December 1, 2010 – Los Gatos, CA) Rocktape announced the topical pain reliever Rock Sauce, the newest addition to the company’s growing product line. Designed specifically for athletes and doctors, Rock Sauce provides temporary relief to sore and aching muscles, and is one of the most powerful over-the-counter pain relievers available on the market.

There are two main categories of pain relievers on the market today: liniments and counterirritants. Liniments utilize menthol as their active ingredient to provide a cooling effect. Absorbine Jr, with 2.5% menthol as an active ingredient, is an example of a liniment. Counterirritants provide a heating sensation and rely on methyl salicylate as their active ingredient. Ben Gay, for example, has 15% methyl salicylate to create a warming sensation.

Rock Sauce is formulated with 20% methyl salicylate, 10% menthol and .3% capsicum, a natural heating agent found in chili peppers. When applied, Rock Sauce users first experience a cooling sensation, followed with a warming sensation. The combination creates a powerful effect that is approximately 10 times more intense than competing products, and delivers ingredients deep into sore muscles and tissue to reduce inflammation and soothe sore muscles.

Rock Sauce is designed to be used alone or along with the company’s flagship product, Rocktape, a unique kinesiology tape which can also be used to treat sore and aching muscles or common sports injuries. Sports physicians, chiropractors and other medical professionals can use Rock Sauce in conjunction with other treatments such as ultrasound, deep tissue massage, TENs and laser to create a more unique and effective treatment plan for their patients.

Ryan Beckwith

“We’ve found Rock Sauce to be very effective when treating our patients. We often combine Rock Sauce with other modalities, such as Rocktape, Graston, laser and ultrasound. Rock Sauce provides immediate feedback to the patient that our treatments are effective at reducing pain,”  said Dr. Kevin Reichlin, D.C., a sport physician at FAC in Boulder and team chiropractor for the Garmin Transitions cycling team.

Rock Sauce is designed for athletes competing at the highest levels. Accordingly, Rock Sauce’s active ingredients comply with the Unites States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) guidelines. “With the goal of making the 2012 Olympic Decathlon team, I spend a good part of any day in training. Competing in one sport is hard enough, but training for ten different events places a lot of stress on my body. After a big block of training, I use Rock Sauce and Rocktape to help relieve the aches and pains that sometime develop. Rock Sauce really helps take the edge off of the soreness,” said Ryan Beckwith, 2012 Olympic Decathlon hopeful. “I’ve used a lot of different pain relievers over the years and Rock Sauce is one of the best out there. When I combine it with Rocktape, my recovery time decreases a lot which helps me get ready for my next block of training.”

Rock Sauce is available immediately at over 600 medical clinics including HealthSource, Therapeutic Associates and Koala Centers, and also at leading sports retailers such as Sports Basement and Second Sole. Rock Sauce is also available at the company’s website www.rocktape.com and sells for $12.95 for 4 oz. and $24.95 for 8 oz.

ROCKTAPE is headquartered in Los Gatos, California. Rocktape and Rock Sauce are used by leading competitive athletes to enhance sports performance and by medical professionals to treat common sports injuries. Contact admin@rocktape.com for more info.
